Adam's Blog: Let's Talk About Barb

In case you missed it, Barb Malburg retired from her position as Admin Assistant here at The Ridge after 16 years of serving in this role. Although she plans to continue helping in a volunteer role, her last official day with us in the office was January 21.

You might not know it, but Barb works behind the scenes in a lot of areas. If you didn't notice her work, that means she did it well. She has led the charge in our message slides, scheduling production volunteers, and helping to make what happens on Sunday happen in a way that points people to Jesus rather than getting distracted by a mistake. She embodies our vision to do "whatever it takes to reach our community for Christ," and I remember many times she came in on a day off to help make something happen because she cares so much.

We have some staff values at The Ridge, and as I read through them I really believe Barb embodies each one.

1. Barb works with humility and integrity, and I never give any thought to whether she is going to get her tasks done or if she means what she says.

2. She works hard, and does her job with excellence and care.

3. Barb is fun to work with and I love to talk to her about movies or TV or musicals. (Talk to her about the show "The Chosen" sometime - she'll talk your ear off!)

4. She has a servant's heart and excels at supporting and helping. It comes as second nature.

5. Barb leads people by doing all of the above.

6. She wants to get better, and she does the work to improve.

7. And through it all, Barb treats people with respect, care, and love.

If you see Barb, be sure to join us in celebrating her amazing work and dedication.

Whatever it takes,

Adam
