In a Nutshell

Boy Mom. Writer. Bargain hunter. Coffee snob. Guitar picker. Reader. Connector. Crazy idea supporter. Card sender.

The Full Story

I didn’t grow up in the church for a reason. To my mom, church meant rules to follow, not being like the other kids, and being scolded during church services. I didn’t carry the same opinion, but was curious about religion and spirituality for most of my childhood. I’ve always been open-minded about church and God, although I wasn’t totally sure what I believed. So when Brian (my husband) suggested we find a home church in Chicago, I didn’t balk at the idea. Over the next few years, I was able to learn more about what God was for --- love, grace, mercy, justice, and people. I realized it was a mission I was willing to give my life to and I started finding ways to serve in our church. We moved back to Columbus in 2010 and I was grateful to find a church – like The Ridge – that valued and cared about reaching people in our community in a very intentional way. I was baptized at The Ridge shortly after becoming a member, and joined the staff in April of 2017.

What I Do

I do a bunch of things with words. Whether it’s writing for the newsletter, an upcoming event, or something to post on social media, it really comes down to connecting, educating, and keeping everyone informed. I care about our church community and am passionate about finding new ways to reach our community with the hope of the gospel.

Life Before The Ridge

I studied communications at Purdue University. Then I did the corporate thing for five years before I took the plunge and went out on my own to do freelance marketing work.

Words I Live By

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5

When I'm Not at Work, I…

am probably chasing my kids or picking up tiny Legos off the floor. When I get free time, I enjoy running, taking trips out west to go skiing, meeting new people, and finding reasons to send people cards (don’t ask, I just like it).

Something that May Surprise You

I’m like an 80-year-old man in that I could watch the weather channel and talk about weather all day long.
