In a Nutshell

The Full Story

Before being at The Ridge, I didn’t really know much about grace. I’ve learned about that here, and how our walk with God has seasons of mountains, plains, and valleys. And, I’ve seen how that’s okay. Expectations are slowly being stripped away, replaced with the steady rhythm of grace. This church has been so integral to my life that when an opening became available for me to join the admin staff, I took the job without looking back. I’m excited about working at The Ridge because of the kind of work I get to do. I realize that I’ve been given a gift, and working at a place that makes a difference for others gives me purpose.

What I Do

In my role, I support the lead pastor and children's director – their ministries and the church as a whole. My day could include anything from hunting down a new toilet for a drama to scheduling folks to take their next steps with God through baptism. The Ridge is a very special and unique place because of our passion for reaching those who are far from God. The best moments are those when I get a front row seat for life-change, and realize God used the way He wired me to help someone’s journey along. It seriously doesn’t get better than that for me.

Life Before The Ridge

I grew up in a small town not too far from Fort Wayne, graduated from Ball State, and transplanted to this area when I married Jeff. I worked as a teacher for seven years at Southwestern Elementary School in southern Shelby County.

Words I Live By

I try to take one day at a time, and though it’s cliché, it’s also a reminder to me that God is leading us through this life, one season at a time. I hear echoes of that in Jeremiah 29:11 (MSG): “I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out – plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.”

When I'm Not at Work, I…

…would probably be reading a good book, learning something new about the past, and taking a long hike in the woods, seeing something in nature I’ve never seen before.

Something that May Surprise You

I would love to take a trip to Iceland.
