Jerry's Blog: From "I Wish" to "I Know"
I’m tired of COVID.
You probably don’t want to read about it in a blog either…sorry. Wishing it away doesn’t change that it’s here for the holidays. However, your circumstances do not have to determine your attitude!
I wish things were back to normal.
I wish COVID didn’t mess up my holiday plans.
I wish there wasn’t so much political or social tension.
I wish I didn’t have to wear a mask.
Changing the word “wish” to “know” can completely change your perspective!
I know that God is with us.
I know that God often works best in troubled times.
I know that Jesus came into an unsettled world to give us hope and peace.
I know that my future is bright because Jesus came to a dark world.
"I wish" focuses on what I don’t have. "I know" focuses on what I do have.
This Christmas will be different. The Christmas parties and musicals may be cancelled. Perhaps because of COVID you won’t even be with family or friends that you normally would be with. But focus on what you know!
Jesus came into a world filled with social and political tension, struggles, and suffering (sound familiar?). But there was peace and joy the night He was born. Not because of circumstances, but because God was with us.
Our Sunday series in December is called God With Us. We will see that God is with us in the wilderness, on the mountaintop, and in the valley, and that He was with us in the flesh, when He came into our world!
Invite a friend to join us online.
Thank God for this gift too wonderful for words! (2 Corinthians 9:15)
Have a wonderful holiday season!
