Tim's Blog: A Little Something Extra
It’s the little things that matter.
My son is a thoughtful gift giver. Have you ever had someone give you something that you know wasn’t expensive but it met a need because the giver just knew? Maybe you wondered to yourself exactly how they knew. It wasn’t a big deal really but it was just something that let you know that they were listening, they were paying attention to your needs.
My youngest son is great at that. When it comes time for birthdays or Christmas gifts, he puts a lot of thought into what to get people. What’s unique is that he doesn’t get someone the things from their "gift list". He watches and listens for the clues to direct him to the items that might make their day a little bit better. He listens when people say phrases in passing like “man, I wish I had (blank), that sure would be helpful right now”. He stores it away, remembers, and then he meets that need by giving from his heart.
That is what “A Little Something Extra” is about. We as are listening and we want to give from our hearts. We know that sometimes people need just a little something extra. Between now and August 9th, we are challenging everyone to give to people in need. Through our partnership with the Love Chapel, we want you to fill a bag with something extra. You can click here to learn more about what you can do to be a thoughtful giver to those with the greatest need.
"For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home.” Matt 25:35
If you are able to join us we want to know. We have a goal to give away 100 bags and to do that we need your help. Click here to tell us you're all in, and then plan to drop off your bag at The Ridge or at Love Chapel by August 9.
Grab a bag, fill it up, and give it away!
