Ridge Reading Challenge Devotional: Revelation 5:13

I’ve been to an NBA playoff game where the atmosphere was electric. The intensity of the players, the energy of the crowd, the decibel level in the arena. I thought, “How can it get any better than this?”

I’ve been to BigStuf, the Christian camp for students, where a packed room of 2000 teens were worshipping Jesus with all their hearts. What I felt was almost unparalleled. I witnessed their passion for God, and thought, “How can it get any better than this?”

It can and will get better. Just wait. If you are a follower of Jesus, the scene described in Revelation 5 will blow your mind.

All focus will be on Jesus. You will be in the presence of perhaps billions of Christians, who will be worshipping Jesus with all their hearts, minds, souls, and strength. The band will consist of myriads of angels singing, “Worthy is the Lamb!”

According to Revelation 5:13, EVERY creature in heaven, on earth, and under the earth will be singing, “Blessing and honor and glory and power belong to the Lamb forever and ever!” Can you imagine being part of that?

The Book of Revelation can, at times, be hard to understand. Some people find some of what is described to be a bit bizarre. But as you read, don’t lose sight of the theme of the book. The primary theme is not future events, catastrophic events, or impending judgment. The book is about Jesus! He’s called the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End.

The book even ends with John, the writer, exclaiming, “Come, Lord Jesus!” John is ready for Jesus to return, so he can spend eternity with his Savior.

As you read Revelation, see Jesus. Then, take a few minutes to pause and reflect on your relationship with Jesus: what He has done for you, what He means to you, how much He loves you, how much you love Him, or what it will be like to spend eternity with Him. How can it get any better than that?
