The Full Story

In June of 2002, I was asked to be a part of The Ridge. I had just finished up seminary and was looking for a full-time youth pastor position. The Ridge was attractive to me because as the Pastor of Student Ministries, I would have the opportunity to really build relationships and invest in the lives of teens. I realized early on in my life that I had a passion for working with teenagers because the teen years are such a pivotal time in their lives when they are making their faith their own. I love watching teens take their next step in their relationship with Jesus. So, it made sense that after seminary I would find a way to support and mentor teenagers.

What I Do

As the Pastor of Student Ministries, I oversee junior and senior high youth ministries, which includes grades 6-12. At The Ridge, we break down our youth programs into two groups – E3 (grades 6-8) and 212 (grades 9-12). I love The Ridge because we have a fantastic vision that allows me to be part of something so much bigger than myself. I love having a job in which I can watch teens learn to understand Jesus more…like a light bulb going on…there is nothing like it!!!  I love to teach God’s Word to teens and help them to fall in love with the Bible and realize that it is true, powerful, and exciting!

Life Before The Ridge

Would you believe me if I told you my life before The Ridge included a Zamboni and a plunger? Ask me about that sometime. And some place in between, I went to Cedarville College and Trinity Theological Seminary.

Words I Live By

“Love God.  Love Others.”

When I'm Not at Work, I…

…enjoy spending time with my family, watching movies, going to sporting events, anything outdoors, reading, and building. A recent project has been a tree house for my kids (it’s pretty stellar, if you want my humble opinion).

Something that May Surprise You

I fell out of a second story window as a kid because I thought I could be like Spiderman and shoot webs out of the straws that I had shoved down my sleeves. My plan was to swing up on to the roof. Needless to say, not really web shooters, no web, and gravity did its thing.
